Woman picked up outside Old Town Clovis bar, sexually assaulted, police say

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was sexually assaulted in Clovis after she was picked up by an unknown man outside a bar in the city over the weekend. So far, the Clovis Police Department says no arrests have been made.

Officers say on Sunday, at around 2:50 a.m., they were dispatched to the area of Clovis Avenue and 4th Street in Old Town Clovis after a man called police to report that an unknown man had picked up his wife. The man reporting the incident told officers that around 20 minutes earlier he and his wife were at a bar in Old Town Clovis and had walked outside – where he saw his wife getting into a light-colored SUV.

According to the Clovis Police Department, the woman got into the front seat of the suspect’s vehicle and the suspect drove to an unknown location, where the woman was sexually assaulted. The suspect then drove the woman back to an area close to her home – and she walked the rest of the way home.

Detectives with the Clovis Police Department say they are investigating what happened, looking for any surveillance cameras or security footage that may help. Officers add that no ride-share services were called around the time of the incident.
