Woman, linked to Albuquerque Walmart shooting, in court for previous charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The suspect police were looking for on Thursday, before a deadly officer-involved shooting, was in court for her armed robbery charges.

We are waiting to hear more from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) about yesterday’s shooting, but the woman they were chasing was in court Friday afternoon. Adriana Gonzales made her first appearance in front of Judge Linda Rogers.

She’s accused of three armed robberies. According to the criminal complaint, on March 24, Gonzales pulled a gun on an employee at the Circle-K near Alameda and Ellison.

Then a few hours later, she reportedly did it again to a Family Dollar employee on Eubank. Two days later, she allegedly robbed another Family Dollar on Sage Road near Unser.

Authorities said Gonzales made off with less than $500. However, after the officer-involved shooting in the Walmart parking lot on Wyoming, it was learned she was not alone during these robberies.

“We have since learned through confession that the female stated the male was the getaway driver in these series of armed robberies,” stated APD Chief Harold Media.

APD arrested Gonzales, but when they tried to arrest her partner-in-crime, he grabbed an officer’s rifle and started firing. Multiple officers opened fire, hitting and killing the man. Police have not released his identity yet.

She’s facing three counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and three counts of conspiracy in her armed robbery case. The state has filed for pretrial detention. Gonzales was already under the supervision of pretrial services in connection to felony drug charges from November, but she did not appear for her arraignment back in January.
