Woman charged for shooting, killing stepfather in Prince George’s County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department charged a woman Friday for shooting and killing her stepfather.

Brigette Robertson, 39, was charged with first-degree murder and other related charges for fatally shooting Gregory Byrd, Sr., 63, earlier this month.

On May 10, at around 6:30 p.m., police responded to the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Ave. Officers found Byrd outside with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was in critical condition and was taken to the hospital where he died on May 22.

When the shooting happened, police identified Robertson as the suspect and obtained a warrant for her. She was arrested on May 11 and taken to the Department of Corrections, where she remained in custody as of May 24.

Police believe Robertson shot her stepfather during an argument.
