CLEVELAND (WJW) – A woman accused of shooting and seriously injuring a Cleveland streets department supervisor now faces charges.

Aisha Shani Primm Schwartz, 39, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence, the FOX 8 I-Team confirmed Friday.

The shooting happened early Thursday morning at the City of Cleveland Public Works garage, which is used to store heavy equipment involved in plowing snow and patching potholes.

Schwartz is accused of following the city employee to his job, getting into the front seat of his pickup truck and grabbing his loaded firearm from the center console, according to an affidavit obtained by the I-Team.

Investigators say Schwartz then told the victim “I’m going to kill you” before firing three shots at him, the complaint alleges.

According to the affidavit, the city employee tried to run for cover, but he was struck by a bullet in the shoulder that traveled to his esophagus.

Investigators say the suspect tried to get away in another vehicle, but she was arrested by Cleveland police soon after and taken into custody.

A union leader with Laborers Local 860 previously spoke out about the shooting.

“Our prayers are with the family and himself, and we hope for a speedy recovery to get back to work. But, it is tragic,” Bobby Mendel said. “It’s bothersome that our members are vulnerable. All city employees. Anyone, at any given time, can walk up into a city garage and do something like this.”

The city employee was taken to the hospital in serious condition. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

The I-Team learned that the suspect and the victim knew each other. The shooting remains under investigation at this time.
