Woman charged with murder in connection to deadly Topeka apartment shooting

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office is charging a woman with murder in connection to a recent deadly Topeka apartment shooting.

Lolita L. Bradford, 25, is being charged with three counts on Tuesday, May 7 including:

  • Murder in the first degree; premeditation

  • Aggravated burglary of a dwelling

  • Interference with law enforcement, false information

Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Katie Garceran says Topeka police were called on April 19 to the Crown Point Apartments located at 3711 Southwest Park South Court in response to a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene found a man, identified as 22-year-old Cody Cooper, dead inside one of the apartments.

Police later linked Bradford to the shooting and she was arrested on April 30. Cooper’s death marks the fifth homicide case for the City of Topeka in 2024.
