Woman charged for allegedly trying to prevent 911 call reporting stabbing at CT residence

Police are investigating a stabbing in Shelton late Tuesday that led to one arrest after a woman allegedly tried stopping a teenager from calling 911 to report the incident.

Police officers and medics responded to a residence on Walnut Tree Hill Road around 7:45 p.m. for the report of a stabbing and found a 35-year-old woman who had been assaulted, according to the Shelton Police Department.

The initial investigation showed that a man and two women were at the residence along with two teenagers when an argument broke out, police said. The man allegedly assaulted the 35-year-old woman and strangled her before grabbing a knife and stabbing her, according to police.

The man left the area in a vehicle and has not been charged.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was evaluated at the scene by medics, police said.

According to police, one of two teens at the home, who were not injured, tried calling 911, but the other woman in the residence, identified as 33-year-old Sarah Graf, tried taking the phone to stop the call. She was charged with interfering with a 911 call and was released on $1,000 bond.

Graf is scheduled to be arraigned in Derby Superior Court on May 3.

The Shelton Police Detective Division is investigating the incident.
