Woman arrested after child brings cocaine to Jefferson Parish school: JPSO

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A woman was arrested after drugs were allegedly found in her child’s school belongings.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 25-year-old Mari Zelaya after they said she admitted to leaving drugs in her son’s backpack.
District Attorney Jason Williams to address jury summons scam in New Orleans
Deputies said on March 20 that the Kindergartner brought the cocaine to school. A teacher told officers that they saw the 7-year-old taking four bags out of his cubby.
Zelaya is facing charges of possession, intent to distribute and cruelty to a juvenile.
