Woman accused of bringing contraband to correctional facility while visiting with baby

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Long Island woman was arrested for attempting to conspire with an Erie County Correctional Facility inmate and deliver contraband, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.

Deputies said Mellissa Cambria, 28, visited 30-year-old Timothy Campbell on Tuesday, April 16. She allegedly brought a black latex ball and bag in her bra and waistband, respectively, which deputies say had suspected K2 in them.

Cambria also allegedly brought her three-month-old baby to the prison, who was later turned over to a family member, according to deputies.

Cambria was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with physical evidence, fifth-degree conspiracy and promoting prison contraband. Campbell was charged with attempted promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree conspiracy.

Cambria is pending arraignment while Campbell remains in custody.
