RICHFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) – A 36-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested on Thursday morning after driving over 100 miles per hour and causing a three-vehicle crash, all while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 41 at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour and passing other motorists on the shoulder shortly before 11:15 a.m.

Shortly after the initial call, another report came in of a multi-vehicle crash involving injuries on State Highway 164 near Pioneer Road in the village of Richfield.

After law enforcement and emergency medical services arrived, they noted multiple vehicles with significant damage just south of Pioneer Road. The vehicle operators were assessed, and no significant injuries were reported.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 36-year-old man from Mayville, who authorities say was the same driver going above 100 miles per hour on Interstate 41, left the center and hit a northbound truck driven by a 54-year-old Richfield man.

The initial collision ripped off the truck’s front tire and smashed into a third vehicle driven by a 74-year-old Richfield man.
