Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminding boaters of life jacket safety ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

(WFRV) – With the unofficial start to summer, Memorial Day Weekend, just around the corner, Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are taking the time to remind boaters throughout the state about proper life jacket safety.

According to a release, wearing a life jacket while out on the water could save lives as more than 75% of all boating-related deaths are the result of drowning.

Officials say loss of life from drowning is less likely if those headed out on any body of water put on a life jacket prior to launching.

They add that putting on a life jacket is a simple action that keeps a fun family outing both happy and safe.

Nowadays, life jackets are said to be lighter, cooler, and available in all sorts of colors and styles to fit each individual’s, and their pet’s, needs.
