Winner declared in Lancaster runoff election after first election ends in tie

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A winner has been declared in a Village of Lancaster runoff election after the first election ended in a tie.

William C. Schroeder earned a one-year term as village trustee by beating David Santoro 374-362 in the runoff on Tuesday. A physical recount was conducted on Wednesday and the results were confirmed with no changes.

Schroeder and Santoro went to a runoff election after they each finished with 248 votes in the first election on March 19.

Schroeder’s term begins immediately.
