Winfield crews battle house fire Wednesday afternoon

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A house fire in Winfield on Wednesday prompted an emergency response from the Winfield Fire Department.

A news release from Winfield Fire and EMS says at 1:01 p.m., crews were dispatched to the 400 block of West 8th St. for a report of a structure fire.

Crews arrived on the scene and found a structure fire with smoke showing from the second floor.

Firefighters searched the building for victims, and none were located. The fire was brought under control quickly.

Crews are still on the scene extinguishing any hotspots.

The fire is under investigation by the Winfield Fire Marshal and the Winfield Police Department.
