It may be hard to believe now as snow blankets the Finger Lakes region, but meteorologists at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton estimate that on Monday, Ithaca will experience clear weather for the April 8 eclipse.

Meteorologist David Nicosia said the snowy squall Ithaca's been experiencing since Thursday afternoon will break to relatively clear skies and warm temperatures.

"The only thing we have to be concerned about is the cloud cover, but it will be of the high variety, so we should be able to see the sun, and it's going to be nice, during the eclipse it should be near 60 degrees, and the winds won't be too strong either," Nicosia said Friday.

"There's going to be some high clouds around, it's hard to escape that. We think they won't be thick enough to block the sun at all, so you should be able to see the eclipse here, that's our thoughts," he said.
