Wilmington pedestrian struck by vehicle Monday dies from injuries

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle earlier this week has died as a result of his injuries.

On Monday around 6:20 a.m., officers responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a pickup truck on the 4300 Carolina Beach Road near Orchid Road. The pedestrian was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with critical injuries following the incident.

Investigations revealed that the pedestrian, identified as Jeremy McCumber, 35 of Wilmington, was crossing the roadway in an area not designated for pedestrian crossing, according to a news release from Wilmington police.

The driver of the vehicle is not facing charges.
