William Church Jr. of Byesville sentenced on drug charges

CAMBRIDGE − William "Butch" Church Jr. of Byesville was recently sentenced to 12 to 16 years in prison, according to news release from Sheriff Jeffrey Paden.

An investigation began in mid-2023 and on June 5 of last year a Guernsey County detective in working in a marked sheriff's cruiser initiated a traffic stop on Church, which resulted in the seizure of more than 50 grams of methamphetamines and 40 grams of fentanyl from the vehicle. He plead guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and possession of a fentanyl related compound, a first-degree felony.
