Wichita man wanted for assaulting USPS worker arrested in Arkansas City

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Officers with the Arkansas City Police Department have arrested a Wichita man who had an active federal warrant for aggravated assault on a postal worker.

A news release from the ACPD says the arrest was made on May 14. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at Creekstone Farms. Officers arrived and talked to employees who said the man appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said the 28-year-old suspect was “exhibiting unusual behavior,” and they found he was in possession of illegal substances.

The suspect resisted arrest, but officers were able to apprehend and transport him to the Cowley County Jail.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had an active warrant issued by the United States Attorney General’s Office for aggravated assault on a postal worker.

The man remains in custody on charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the federal warrant.

KSN does not name suspects until they are formally charged with a crime.
