Wichita Falls police: An eye injury turns into a murder

What at first appeared to be an eye injury has turned into murder, according to Wichita Falls police.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of New Haven at 12:35 a.m. Sunday to check on an injured man.

They found Deron Edward Royster with an eye injury and called for an ambulance.

Royster couldn't say how he got hurt, and others at the scene would not cooperate with officers, according to a press release from the Wichita Falls Police Department.

Royster was taken to United Regional Health Care and then was transported to to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Doctors there discovered he had a bullet in his brain. Royster died Tuesday.

The WFPD is investigating this incident as a murder, according to the release.
