April tropical storms are rare in the Atlantic Basin. More Category 5 hurricanes have made landfall in the United States than there have been April tropical storms.

According to National Hurricane Center records, two tropical storms have developed in the Atlantic Basin during April.

In 2003, Ana was the first Atlantic tropical storm on record to form in April. Bermuda received more than 2.5 inches of rain from the system. Swells generated by Ana caused a boat to capsize near Jupiter Inlet, FL. on Apr. 20. Two people onboard drowned.

The second April tropical storm was Arlene in 2017. Arlene was a short-lived tropical storm that meandered over the Central Atlantic.
