West Georgia minister arrested on allegations of child molestation, sexual battery

LaGrange, GA. (WRBL) – A LaGrange, Georgia minister is being held Tuesday morning at the Troup County Detention Facility after being arrested Friday on sexual battery and child molestation allegations.

Russell Tusing II, 44, was arrested Friday by Troup County Sheriff’s deputies on warrants from the LaGrange Police Department. Investigators tell WRBL a report was filed in late February kickstarting an investigation into the minister at Sovereign Grace Church in LaGrange. The allegations of abuse date back to 2022 involving a teen victim. Investigators are being cautious about the information they release in an effort to protect the juvenile victim’s identity.

WRBL has reached out to the Troup County District Attorney’s Office for further comment on the case. WRBL also called, sent a message via social media, and emailed Sovereign Grace Church for a statement.

Russell Tusing is no longer listed as a part of the church’s leadership.
