New Orleans police make arrest in weekend French Quarter homicide

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department arrested a man who’s accused of fatally shooting a person in the French Quarter on Sunday, May 5.
NOPD officials said that around 8:38 p.m., officers were patrolling the area when they were called to respond to a shooting in the 500 block of Bienville Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said a man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to NOPD officers, 37-Reginald J. Batiste, who was seen leaving the scene, was taken into custody for questioning.
Through an investigation, officers determined Batiste was responsible for the shooting and issued an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree murder. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
