Wednesday Morning Forecast for Baton Rouge 5-22-24

Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 7:45 am forecast. Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday. We’re halfway through the work week and we’ve had great weather so far. We’ll see a few more clouds today, but we’ll also still get to have sunshine. Skies will be partly cloudy and highs will be in the low 90s. Since cloud coverage will be a little higher today, that should help to keep temps in the low 90s range. Mostly dry weather is still expected today as a ridge of high pressure still remains in place. As mentioned a couple of days ago, a frontal boundary will move through the Great Plains and into the Mid-South, but it appears that that’s where all the rain will be concentrated that’s associated with this system. Again, with a ridge of high pressure in place and still somewhat enough drier air in place as well, that should help to limit rain chances for us. There may be an isolated shower or two moving through the northern and northwestern section of our viewing area late tonight and early Thursday morning, but most of our area should stay dry. Highs will be in the low and mid 90s for a few more days and more Gulf moisture will stream in allowing for dew points to creep us some more. The next few days will be a little warmer and a little more humid. Heat indices will be in the 90s for most of this week, but heat indices could be around 100 this weekend. So again, please drink enough water and don’t overexert yourself if you have an outdoors job. Take frequent breaks in the shade or go inside for AC if you'll be outside doing any activities this holiday weekend. Early next week, we’ll have a little change in our weather. A weak cold front will move through on Tuesday. Memorial Day will be hot, humid and mostly dry. There is, however, a slight chance of showers for that night. There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday. Based on model guidance, it looks like the rain should be out in the morning or at some point earlier in the day. The rain should be out by the evening. Wednesday should be a drier day. May is National Pet Month so pet pics will continue to be shown throughout the rest of the month.
