LOCAL FORECAST AHEAD:

Much of our Saturday was gray and rainy, and although the rain is starting to wind down this evening, we may still see a few showers until sunset. After that, expect partly cloudy skies with potentially some patchy fog developing across the area.

Clouds are expected to start off the day Sunday, but as we get deeper into the afternoon, we should start to see some sunshine periodically. As a result, we should see some more Spring-like temperatures return with upper 70s and low 80s expected.

Despite Sunday likely turning out to be a mild day, we may feel some true summer-like conditions to start off this week. The reason for that is our humidity will reach values about as high as we have seen them get all year, with dewpoints into the 70s. Once you get dewpoints into at least the middle 60s, you really start to notice the air feel a little sticky and “heavy.”

Not only will it be pretty muggy out, but it will also be a bit on the hotter side of things as well. Highs will likely be in the middle 80s Monday and Tuesday before our next cold front resets things Wednesday.

With highs in the middle 80s and dewpoints close to 70, we will see some heat index values close to 90 both Monday and Tuesday. Summer is wasting no time with the sweaty conditions here in June!

Along with that heat and moisture will come storm chances as well. We will see daily chances for showers and storms Monday through Wednesday. The atmosphere does not appear to be in great shape to provide much in terms of severe weather Monday, but we could see some more organized storms Tuesday and Tuesday Night.

Several models keep the showers and storms on the edge of the area Monday, but keep in mind that any storm that finds its way on in here might bring some pretty heavy rain along with some constant thunder and lightning.

Showers and storms appear to be much more widespread on Tuesday as the next cold front marches into Central IL. Severe potential is a bit uncertain, but there is likely to be some heavy rain, isolated strong gusts, and plenty of thunder and lightning with all of the warm, moist air out ahead of this system.
