Weather impacts roads across Pennsylvania

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Sunday multiple roads across various Pennsylvania counties are closed after severe weather impacted the keystone state.

Drivers in Pennsylvania were advised by PennDOT the following roads were closed Sunday night due to flooding, downed trees, or utilities.

Columbia County

  • Route 4008 (Back Branch Road) between Whites Church Road and Millertown Road in Mt. Pleasant Township for downed utilities.

Snyder County

  • Route 1007, Globe Mills Road, between Tame Deer Drive in Jackson Township and Ridge Road in Middlecreek Township.

  • Route 3008, Paxtonville Road, between Route 3007 (Iron Bridge Road) in Franklin Township and Route 104, Wasau Road, in Middleburg Borough.

  • Route 2003 (between Route 35 (Market Street) in Freeburg Borough and Route 2003 (Flint Valley Road) in Washington Township.

Union County

  • Route 3013, Wirth Road, between Route 3003, Grand Valley Road, and Route 3005, Pleasant Grove Road, in Lewis Township.

  • Route 3008 (Paxtonville Road) between Route 3007 (Iron Bridge Road) in Franklin Township and Route 104 (Wasau Road) in Middleburg Borough.

  • Route 1001 (Spruce Run Road) between Gessner Road in White Deer Township and Route 1004 (Cross Roads Drive) in Kelly Township.

Drivers are advised by PennDOT to never drive through flooded roads, saying it takes just two feet of fast-moving water to float a car.

Anyone who drives around placed barriers can face increased fines if emergency crews are called to help drivers who ignore traffic control signs.
