Weather Alert: Strong storms possible today

Weather Alert: Storm chances will be back today, and some could be strong. A warm front will push north of the area throughout the morning hours with a few storms. We will see more sunshine today than we saw yesterday, and it will warm up into the 80s. A weak front will move through late in the day, and this will bring scattered thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has put much of the area at a slight risk for severe weather today. The timing will be mid-afternoon through the evening. Dew points are high across the area, and sunshine will add to the instability. We have a 15% risk of damaging winds and large hail and a 2% tornado risk. The cold front will push offshore tonight. Drier air will move in tonight, and it will likely stay rain-free on Thursday and Friday with highs in the 80s.

The next system will bring scattered thunderstorms for the weekend with the highest chance on Saturday. A cold front Sunday will push showers offshore, bringing sunshine back to start next week.
