The National Weather Service says high winds are expected across northern Ohio on Friday.

There's a wind advisory in effect from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Gusts as high as 50 mph are possible in the region.

The weather service is advising residents to secure loose items in their yards and avoid standing by windows during the peak gusts as some tree damage and power outages are possible.

Things are expected to dry out a bit on Saturday with sunny skies expected before showers return on Sunday.

The weather service says some isolated severe storms are possible on Sunday as a cold front pushes through Ohio.

Friday: Showers. High near 50. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday night: Showers likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Saturday night: A chance of showers after 2.am. Mostly clear, with a low around 43. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: A chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
