WCSO to limit beach access, target large groups and unaccompanied teens
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — While spring break is ending, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office says it is not easing up on keeping the community safe.

According to a Facebook post, the department plans to suspend beach access from County Road 283 East to the Bay County line beginning at 7 p.m.
In addition, the department states that they will “aggressively target” large crowds of unaccompanied minors from gathering on Santa Rosa Beach.
The department shared, “Anyone caught trespassing on private property to gain access to the beach will be charged accordingly. Large congregations WILL NOT be allowed on the sand.”
WCSO said the release is a warning to teens who plan to come to the beach, and parents who let their kids come to the beach alone.

“Our team is in the final stretch of Spring Break,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “It is imperative that during our busiest week – Atlanta – we prevent a situation from getting out of control. We are trying to get ahead of this now.”
The WCSO posted the announcement on Monday, April 1, but officials made it clear that this statement is for real.
The post ends, “No, this is NOT an April Fool’s joke,” as the department shares that they are on the “home stretch” of spring break.
