WBRSO: Train hit tree that fell on tracks during inclement weather early Tuesday
ERWINVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision involving a Union Pacific train and a tree early on Tuesday, March 26.
According to Public Affairs Coordinator Sgt. Landon Groger, a train hit a tree near Airline Park Drive in the Erwinville area. around 5:20 a.m.
It caused damage to the train, WBRSO said. There was no derailment or reported injuries.
WBRSO believes that severe weather played a part in the tree falling onto the tracks.
The sheriff’s office said Union Pacific Railroad Police Department “arrived on scene and took over the incident.”

Robynn Tysver, spokesperson for Union Pacific Railroad, confirmed that the tree has been removed and train traffic is moving again.
