Water quality advisory issued for part of Manatee County

BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County issued a water quality advisory Monday after high levels of bacteria were found in beach waters.

The advisory was issued for Palma Sola South, located on the east end of the Palma Sola Causeway and the north side of Manatee Avenue West.

According to DOH-Manatee, tests completed on May 6 and May 8 indicated that the water quality in the area did not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.

The department is advising against any water-related activities in the location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers.

The advisory will be in effect until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. See test results.
