Water main break slows Manhattan traffic, water pressure

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A water main break is restricting traffic and leaving customers with no or low water pressure near downtown Manhattan.

According to the City of Manhattan’s social media, a water main break is at 11th Street and Poyntz Avenue on Wednesday. For the time being, there will be the following traffic restrictions on the intersection.

• The westbound, outside lane of Poyntz is closed from 10th Street through 12th Street.

• There is no left turn for eastbound traffic onto 11th Street from Poyntz.

• There is no right turn for westbound traffic onto 11th Street from Poyntz.

• For southbound traffic on 11th Street, there is right turn only onto Poyntz.

As of now, there is no to low water pressure for customers on 11th Street from Poynt Avenue through Leavenworth Street as well as on Humbolt Street from 9th Street through 11th Street, according to the social media post. Emergency crews are working to repair the break.
