WATCH: MPD releases body cam footage of armed man shot by officer

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released the body camera footage of an armed man that was shot while being chase by police on April 1.

The shooting happened around at 8:50 p.m. outside a Wells Fargo bank near its drive-thru in the area of Bladensburg Road and V Street.

Police said they saw an altercation take place between some men and as they tried to intervene, they saw that one of them had a gun.

At that point, police started chasing the man who left running.

You can hear in the video police saying to the man “let me see your hands.”

While the man continued to run, police shot the man while chasing after him.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

He was said to be conscious and breathing.
