TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An amazing sight was captured on Sunday as a mother dolphin was spotted swimming alongside her “cutie” or calf at Honeymoon Island.

Drone operator John Yanchoris recorded the sweet moment around 8 a.m. He said that one of the dolphins had recently given birth and had been spotted swimming with her baby for about a week now.

“Recently, one of the mother dolphins had some babies, and they have been spotted for about a week now near North Beach and Hurricane Pass,” Yanchoris said.

Yanchoris has a YouTube channel where he posts his drone videos.

In the description of his YouTube channel, Yanchoris said he’s a former firefighter who has done drone work for local fire departments, as well as anyone who needs aerial footage of their homes or special events.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, it is against federal law to feed or harass wild dolphins. Swimming with or feeding dolphins can be dangerous for both humans and dolphins and should not be attempted.

Dolphins are also known to become aggressive to humans when seeking food or defending their territories in areas where feeding or swimming practices occur, the FWC said.
