CLEVELAND (WJW) — An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for the second suspect in an arson fire at an Edgewater home that endangered a family asleep inside.

Cleveland police detectives allege the second suspect, a 21-year-old man, and Tyric M. Green, of Euclid, also 21, went to the West 106th Street home in the early morning of Friday, April 19, and tried to set the porch on fire using accelerant. But the fire put itself out.

The pair then came back just before 2 a.m. the next morning, on Saturday, April 20, and again used an ignitable liquid to torch the house, according to the warrant, obtained by the FOX 8 I-Team.

The residents asleep inside, a young couple and their 7-month-old son, narrowly escaped by jumping from a second-level rooftop, FOX 8 News reported. Their dog perished, but their cat was later found alive.

The arrest warrant for Green, issued Monday, states the home was owned by his grandmother’s landlord. Investigators told FOX 8 News they’re considering that the suspects were seeking revenge for a previous dispute.

The fire spread to nearby homes and vehicles, causing about $700,000 in damage, investigators said.

Green was charged earlier this week with a first-degree felony count of aggravated arson and is now in jail. No future court dates have been set, according to court records.

Though the Thursday warrant lists the second suspect by name, he has not been formally charged.
