Warner Robins murder suspect gets life in prison after being convicted, officials say

A Warner Robins man has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole after he was found guilty of murder in a deadly shooting in 2023, according to the Warner Robins Police Department.

Andre Slocumb was convicted by a jury Wednesday for the shooting death of Anthony Presley, who died from multiple gunshot wounds on May 29, 2023, while driving his car on Wendan Way. In addition to murder, Slocumb was also convicted of possessing a firearm during the act of the crime and possessing a firearm as a felon, WRPD said.

At the time, Warner Robins interim police chief Wayne Fisher said the shooting was a “targeted event.” A green SUV sighted in the area became a focal point of the investigation, Fisher said.

According to a news release by William Kendall, the district attorney of Houston County, prosecutors showed text messages at trial that established Slocumb and Presley knew each other and were feuding over an alleged drug debt.

The Warner Robins Police Department received help from the Criminal Investigative Division and the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force to track down Slocumb. They found Slocumb’s vehicle in Rome, Georgia, where a friend stored it for him, Kendall said. The positioning data from the SUV placed Slocumb at the crime scene. Law enforcement later captured him in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 21, 2023.

“The Warner Robins Police Department wants to recognize the outstanding performance of every officer involved from the initial response to the extensive investigation,” the police department said in a news release Thursday.

“I recall visiting this crime scene and speaking with Detectives on scene less than a year ago, now we have a conviction,” said Kendall. “This is an example of comprehensive swift justice, as it should be.”
