Warmer and cloudier weather for partial solar eclipse
Clouds are moving into New Mexico this morning, and we will see partly to mostly cloudy skies all day. If you are hoping to view the partial solar eclipse, it is not a full on bust, but clouds will create less than perfect viewing conditions. The maximum eclipse will be around 12:30 PM in New Mexico, and you will need to view it with solar eclipse glasses and pinhole projectors in order to see the shadow of the moon in front of the sun. There will be slight dimming of the sky, but the sky will not become dark.

Temperatures will be warmer Monday, with lighter winds than over the weekend. The next storm system will bring in rain and snow showers to central and eastern NM on Tuesday. The heaviest rain will be in southeast NM, all day. There will be a few inches of snow accumulation possible in the south-central mountains and east plains. The storm will bring isolated showers to the Metro, along with strong east canyon winds to the Metro Tuesday morning, but the winds will lighten by the afternoon.
