A warm weekend is on the way with highs in the mid 80s

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A trough of low pressure will pass across Central California this afternoon.

A trough of low pressure will progress eastward into the Great Basin tonight. A few strong thunderstorms are conceivable in the Sierra Nevada from 2 p.m. this afternoon until 7 p.m. this evening.

The primary thunderstorm hazards will be dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes, small hail, and wind gusts near 45 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect. A ridge of high pressure will build northward along the west coast of the United States Saturday through Monday.

The warmest day in the next seven days should be Monday. High temperatures Monday afternoon will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year.
