Warehouse catches fire in Alleghany County, firefighter taken to hospital

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) –Smoke could be seen billowing from the Iron Gate area in Alleghany County after a warehouse caught fire on Monday afternoon.

According to the Iron Gate Volunteer Fire and Rescue, around 1:14 p.m. on May 6, multiple units across Alleghany County were dispatched to battle a fire at the Garten Trucking & Warehouse. The warehouse is used for storing paper and carpet products.

Once on the scene, crews found the facility engulfed in flames. After a thorough search, first responders worked to extinguish the fire.

The Iron Gate Volunteer Fire & Rescue says one member was taken to the hospital with complications. Their condition is unknown at this time.
