We want your feedback about the new Milwaukee Student of the Week contest

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has a goal: to highlight the accomplishments and talents of high school students in our local community.

To do that, we've created a weekly Student of the Week poll that allows members of the public to recognize a high schooler in an online weekly poll. That poll remains open between Mondays and Thursdays, with a winner announced Friday mornings.

We need high schools to send us weekly nominations to make that happen. It's why we also want feedback from schools, and community members, about the Student of the Week contest.

Here's information on how to submit feedback, as well as get involved.

How do I submit feedback about student of the week?

Members of the public can email studentoftheweek@jsonline.com with feedback about Student of the Week.

How can my high school nominate students?

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has already reached out to high schools in the area with details about participating in the Student of the Week contest. Schools have access to an online form that allows them to input information about the student nominee, including a short bio and headshot.

High school principals who have not received information about the Student of the Week contest, or want more information, can email studentoftheweek@jsonline.com.

Who is eligible to become the Milwaukee Student of the Week?

Students from public, private and home high schools in the Milwaukee area are eligible.

How is the Student of the Week selected?

A reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reviews the nominations each week, then narrows the selection to a handful of finalists. Each Monday, a list of finalists appears online accompanied by an online poll for the public to vote on. Polls close at noon Thursdays.

Winners will be announced Fridays online at jsonline.com and in print each Sunday.

Can parents and guardians get involved?

Parents and guardians should contact their high school principal to ask about participating in the Student of the Week contest.

What do Student of the Week winners receive?

The student's win is announced online and in our Sunday print edition. Students will also receive a certificate.
