Walker teacher accused of stealing $29K in school funds charged with felony theft

WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) — A Walker High School baseball coach accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the baseball program was arrested and charged with felony theft Thursday.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said school officials contacted deputies regarding misappropriated funds. Sheriff Jason Ard said head coach Nicholas Scelfo submitted multiple invoices for reimbursement on equipment he bought with his own money for the baseball program totaling $29,360.21.

According to Ard, high school officials found that the equipment Scelfo claimed to have ordered did not exist during an inventory check at the end of the 2024 baseball season. Vendors confirmed to officials that the order numbers did not exist and no orders were placed.
