Wake-Up Weather: what happened last night? An atmospheric ‘cap’ put a lid on storm development

Friday, April 26th, 2024

Summary: The dry-line held on for portions of the big country. There were a few areas that saw severe storms overnight. While I know you are tired of hearing of severe weather, believe me, no one likes it when the you prepare for a severe weather event and the cap ‘busts’ those chances more than meteorologists. Temperatures will continue warmer than average despite a cold front. The rest of today with be mostly tranquil still with a chance for storms out towards the southeast. A better chance for severe storms lines up for most of the big country brief in the morning, then into the overnight of early Sunday morning. Rain chances take a pause on Monday and Tuesday of next week but storm chances move right back in by Wednesday.

Today: Following the severe storms we should expect a more tranquil end to the work week, although warm and breezy, the humidity will drop behind the cold front as the haze retreats. High Temperature: 88° Winds: WSW 15-20 MPH

Tonight: Clouds clearing out tonight but then rebuilding into the early morning hours of Saturday. Low Temperature: 64° Winds: S 5-15 G 25 MPH
