Wake-Up Weather: hail, rain and northern lights “light-up” the sky in the big country this past Mother’s day weekend

Monday, May 13th, 2024

Summary: Following a weekend filled with strong-severe storms, geomagnetic storms and CME’s we are finally starting to see the calm. Starting the morning off with some cloud cover and dense fog. Currently a dense fog advisory is in place until 8 am this morning. Heading into the afternoon we should anticipate the cold front to clear skies allowing temperatures to rise into the 80’s. The SPC is watching areas towards the heartland for a chance at these storms, however models are once again not completely enthusiastic about those chances. Heading into tomorrow, we wake up to less cloud cover to start the day, while severe storms are not anticipated Tuesday we could see a strong disturbance bring in some thunderstorms Tuesday evening. Then rain chances ramp up Wednesday into Thursday out ahead of a cold front and approaching warm front from the south. Contrary to last weekend, this weekend will be HOT with sunny skies and minimal rain chances.

Today: Mostly cloudy with areas of dense fog with skies clearing behind the front leaving temperatures close to seasonal. High Temperatures: 82° Winds: SW>NNW 5-15 MPH

Tonight: Clear, calm and tranquil night. Low Temperatures: 57° Winds: NNW>E 5-10 MPH
