ETTRICK – Two graduations. Two graduation speakers. One school.

Virginia State University announced Friday it was splitting its planned May 11 spring commencement into two separate ceremonies – one at 9 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m. Both will be inside the VSU Multipurpose Center.

“The two separate ceremonies will allow the growing number of VSU graduates to have more family and friends attend this momentous occasion,” VSU said in the announcement.

The 9 a.m. ceremony is for graduates of the colleges of Education and Humanities & Social Science. Former Gov. Doug Wilder will be the keynote speaker.

The afternoon exercises are for the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business; and the colleges of Agriculture, Engineering & Technology, and Natural & Health Sciences. Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Virginia, will address that ceremony.
