'Voice' contestant's glaring mistake stands out in a night of amazing performances

It was a rough night for Adam Cunningham on The Voice after a bumpy start to the Phil Collins hit “Against All Odds.” And even though he recovered and sang his heart out for the rest of the song, the damage was already done. His coach Adam Levine tried to make him feel better about the mistake by saying, “I obviously heard the beginning. You know what, we’re human. We make mistakes. All of us sitting up here make them all the time. It’s not about the mistake. It’s the recovery.”

The best of the rest

The mistake was even more glaring considering the rest of the night was one of the best top-12 performance shows in the history of The Voice. Everyone brought their A-game, from Davon Fleming, who sang the heck out of some Beyoncé, to Addison Agen’s beautiful performance of “She Used to Be Mine” to Jon Mero, who dedicated his performance of “Why I Love You” to his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. From Iowa, Keisha Renee headed South on a soulful “Midnight Train to Georgia,” while Noah Mac was traveling at the “Speed of Sound” with a rearranged Coldplay classic.

Even though it was a bummer for Adam Cunningham, if the rest of the season is as good as Monday night’s live show, we’re all in for a heck of a ride.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS. Watch clips and full episodes of The Voice for free on Yahoo View.
