Vigo County sheriff seeks public's help with 1980 cold case homicide

Apr. 26—The Vigo County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in solving a cold case homicide.
On July 10, 1980, Gloria Hedden, 29, was reported missing by her husband.
A master's student at Indiana State University, Hedden was last seen leaving work near campus that morning, sheriff's office Chief of Operations Derek Fell said in a social media post Friday.
On July 12, Hedden's body was found in the Wabash River with her hands and feet bound together.
"Detectives continue to work the case after many years. With advancing criminal investigative resources and your help, detectives hope to bring Gloria's killer to justice," wrote Fell.

At the time of her death, Hedden was married with two children, according to Tribune-Star archives. She both worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Terre Haute and took graduate courses in computer science.
She was born and raised in Chicago and had come to the Wabash Valley to complete a bachelor's degree at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
