VIDEO: Officials respond to worker pinned between tree, bucket lift truck in Winter Haven

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Officials in Winter Haven responded to a report of a worker who got trapped in a tree on Friday afternoon.

Around 1:05 p.m., Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a technical rescue call on Bermuda Court to find a person pinned between a tree and a bucket lift truck behind a home.

According to crews, the worker was performing tree trimming services when they got pinned.

The video above showed officials carrying the victim out on a stretcher before an ambulance transported them to a helicopter to be airlifted for treatment.

“Our members continue to function at the highest levels and are prepared for all hazards,” Fire Chief Hezedean A. Smith, D.M. said. “The interdisciplinary collaboration between our medics, special operations members, command staff and our trauma surgeons was phenomenal.”

Officials said 14 units responded, including a Lakeland Regional Trauma Surgeon, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Auburndale Fire Department and the Winter Haven Fire Department.

The incident remains under investigation.
