Video: Central Park raccoon tries stealing backpack
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A furry thief was caught on video attempting to steal a backpack in Central Park last week.
The video posted to Reddit shows a man and a child fishing inside the Manhattan park as a racoon lurks in the foreground. The person who recorded the video told PIX11 News it happened on April 20 around 7 p.m.
The raccoon grabs a backpack sitting by the rocks before the person filming the video gets the attention of the man, who then engages in — and wins — a tug-of-war battle against the raccoon.
The would-be bandit leaves the crime scene empty-handed, the video shows.
Raccoons are one of the many animals thay live in Central Park. A large coyote was spotted wandering around the Cherry Hill area of the park over the same weekend.
