Victim identified in Monday night Elmira shooting

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira Police Department has released the name of the individual who was killed in the Monday night shooting near “Gush’s Thirsty Bear” bar.

Police say that Norman D. Cherry, 44, died at the hospital after being shot outside of the bar on 351 East Washington Avenue, around 10:52 p.m. on Monday, May 21.

No additional information regarding the incident is being released by police at this time, as it is still under active investigation by EPD.
