Verona man facing multiple drug, weapons charges

TUPELO – A raid of a Verona house by multiple law enforcement agencies Tuesday ended with a man facing multiple felony charges.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, along with the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, executed a search warrant on May 21 at a Verona address following a lengthy investigation.

Johnny Arnez Dillard, 38, was arrested at the residence and charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, trafficking ecstasy, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking hydrocodone, trafficking oxycodone, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

At the time of the arrest, Dillard was in the Mississippi Department of Corrections Intensive Supervision Program (house arrest). While he was arrested in Verona, when he was booked into the Lee County Jail, he listed South Highland Drive in Tupelo as his home address. During his initial appearance, bond was set at $750,000.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said this case is still under investigation and more arrests are possible.
