Vehicle crashes into West Elmira hair studio
WEST ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A vehicle drove into a building in West Elmira on Sunday afternoon.
A red Ford SUV crashed into the front of His and Hers Hair Studio in the shopping plaza at the corner of West Water Street and York Avenue at about 3:20 p.m. on May 19. A group of witnesses told an 18 News Reporter at the scene that the SUV crossed oncoming traffic on West Water Street before hitting the building.
The driver was taken away from the scene in an ambulance. No other injuries were reported, and His and Hers Hair Studio was closed at the time of the crash.
The hair studio’s large front window shattered during the crash and left glass scattered around the area. A garden box that was in front of the window was destroyed during the crash, and the front of the vehicle sustained significant damage.

The West Elmira Police Department, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the West Elmira Fire Department, the Elmira Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance responded to the scene.
