Valley View issues public notification on flood risk

VALLEY VIEW, Ohio (WJW) — The Valley View Fire Department has issued a public notification for potential flooding, as a powerful storm system bears down on Northeast Ohio.

“The village is expected to experience moderate flooding that will begin late Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon,” Fire Chief Ken Papesh told FOX 8 News.

Papesh said that the National Weather Service predicts the crest of the Cuyahoga River will be at 19.5 feet at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when flooding could be at its highest.

“We’re expecting some flooding on Canal Road between I-480 and Sweet Valley Road,” he said.

Papesh said Valley View firefighters will be out monitoring the roads and any safety issues all night and through Wednesday.

A Flood Watch has been issued in Ashland, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Holmes, Mahoning, Richland, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties until 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
