USPS releases Save Manatees stamp on Manatee Appreciation Day

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The United States Postal Service released its Save Manatees stamp on Wednesday in honor of Manatee Appreciation Day.

The stamps were previously announced in November, but weren’t available to purchase until Wednesday.

“Postage stamps are miniature works of art designed to reflect the American experience,” Stamp Services Director Lisa Bobb-Semple said in a statement. “It is our hope that these stamps bring further awareness to the plight of this beautiful animal.”

The stamps were designed by Derry Noyes using a digital illustration from Nancy Stahl.

The special stamps can be purchased on the USPS website or at Post Office locations.
